Blackburn Rovers Football Club is recruiting a part time U12 Assistant Coach with the responsibility of assisting the Lead Coach with the U12 age group. The role will involve developing this specific age group through team/individualised coaching sessions and an Academy games programme.

Reporting into the Head of Coaching, the successful candidate will be responsible for shaping the success and future development of players within the Academy system and in particular the Foundation Phase. This will incorporate:

  • General administration duties
  • Assist the Lead Coach with the Foundation Phase Academy team (U12)
  • Deliver coaching sessions and assist the Lead Coach in the management of teams during the games programme
  • Implementing best practice
  • Perform match day duties
  • Constant review of performance of FP Academy players in both training and matches
  • To carry out any such other duties as the Academy Manager may reasonably properly assign or delegate in connection with the business of the Club from time to time.
  • Complete weekly evaluation of player performance on the PMA system
  • Complete 6 weekly reviews with players
  • Complete 2 yearly Parents evenings, record topics discussed and targets for players. To also inform parents of the Academy decision in relation to the transition of each player into the next age group/release
  • Update any “Best Practice” sessions for use within the FP
  • Attend and discuss various aspects of players/issues at the phase specific multi-disciplinary meetings
  • Review the performance of your age group on an annual basis during the Academy Annual review.
  • Undertake a minimum of 5hrs CPD
    Complete the Coaches Competency Framework process with the Head of Coaching and implement & monitor your Coach Development Plan

This is a role that requires empathetic and effective work ethic, based on the Club’s vision and values, and that harnesses the talent of Academy players in the achievement of key milestones within its player development provision.

Blackburn Rovers Football Club is recruiting a full time Academy Senior Physiotherapist to work within the Sports Science and Medicine Department. The purpose of this post will be:

  • To provide physiotherapy assessment, injury diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation to all Blackburn Rovers Academy players (U9-18)
  • To strive for excellence and provision of optimal service within the Sports Science and Medicine department at Blackburn Rovers Football Club.
  • To assist the Academy Head of Sports Science and Medicine in the day to day running of the medical department at Blackburn Rovers Academy

Reporting into the Academy Head of Sports Science and Medicine, you will be responsible for:

MANAGEMENT OF INJURIES

  • To provide accurate assessment, diagnosis, and physiotherapy management to all Academy players, ensuring best practice is followed at all times.
  • Work alongside other members of the Sports Science and Medicine Department to design and implement effective, age and maturation specific screening and injury prevention strategies.
  • To arrange external investigations and treatment as required.

MEDICAL PROVISION AT MATCHES/ TRAINING/ TOURS

  • To provide match day/ training/ tournament physiotherapy cover as required, both home and away, including international tours.
  • To assist the Head of Sports Science and Medicine in the design, maintenance and implementation of an evidence based, best practice emergency action plan.
  • To assist in the checking and maintenance of all emergency medical equipment.

COMMUNICATION

  • To maintain timely, accurate physiotherapy medical record keeping in line with CSP standards.
  • Communicate effectively with relevant personnel within the Academy regarding player availability/ injury updates, as necessary.
  • To communicate and liaise effectively with parents as necessary.
  • To develop and maintain relationships with external contacts.

CLINICAL GOVERNANCE

  • To ensure all policies and procedures are up to date as per EPPP requirements.
  • To maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times.
  • To maintain a thorough, up to date CPD portfolio as per CSP/HCPC requirements.
  • To co-ordinate and contribute to the physiotherapy in-service training programme at the Academy.
  • To assist in the education of all players and parents as required (i.e., injury prevention, recovery, anti-doping etc.)
  • Assist in the production and evaluation of injury audit procedures as required by the Head of Sports Science and Medicine.
  • To comply with relevant child protection policies and procedures at all times.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To assist in the collection and evaluation of daily wellness and psychometric measures.
  • To assist with warm ups, cool downs and individual/ squad conditioning sessions as required.
  • Other relevant duties as determined by the Head of Sports Science and Medicine.

  • Extensive skills in manual therapy and exercise prescription
