Bio
The 20-year-old Sweden international joined on loan until the end of the season in January 2024, becoming Rovers' first signing of the January window.
Ayari, who can operate in a variety of midfield roles, started his career in his homeland with AIK, making his debut at the age of 17.
He netted four goals in 24 league appearances in a breakthrough season for the Allsvenskan side in 2022, before making his senior Sweden debut – alongside new Rovers team-mate Leo Wahlstedt – in a 2-0 friendly win over Finland in January 2023.
A few weeks later, and after 48 appearances for AIK, the talented midfielder made a big-money move to Brighton, signing a four-and-a-half-year deal at the Amex Stadium.
He made his Seagulls debut in their 5-0 FA Cup triumph over Grimsby Town last March – coming on in the second half alongside Jan Paul van Hecke – before making his Premier League bow in Brighton’s 2-0 victory away to Bournemouth in early April.
He featured again in Brighton’s 6-0 win over Wolves, before making his first Premier League start in their final day fixture against Aston Villa.
Following a successful first season in English football, the young Swedish prospect joined Coventry City on loan in August, scoring on his full home debut – and second start for the club – in their 1-1 draw against Huddersfield Town a month later.
He impressed in Coventry’s 1-0 victory over Rovers in October, after coming on as a first-half substitute, and went on to 13 appearances in total for the Sky Blues before being recalled by Brighton.
