Bio

The gifted midfielder joined us on a three-year deal from Rangers for an undisclosed fee in the summer of 2024, becoming our third deadline day signing.

The 27-year-old, who has three Championship promotions on his CV, came through the youth ranks at Norwich City and went on to make his debut for the Norfolk club in an FA Cup tie at Chelsea in January 2018.

Later that month he joined Dutch club Fortuna Sittard on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 2018-19 season would prove to be a breakthrough one for Cantwell, who made 27 first team appearances for Norwich and helped the club earn promotion to the Premier League.

He shone in the top flight, scoring six league goals in 30 starts, before helping Norwich bounce straight back to the big time the following campaign.

A loan spell to Bournemouth followed, as they too secured a spot in the top flight in 2022 – Cantwell’s third promotion to the Premier League in four years.

An England Under-21 international, Cantwell made 129 appearances in total for Norwich, before joining Scottish giants Rangers in January 2023.

The creative, forward-thinking and exciting midfielder scored six goals in the second half of the 2022-23 campaign, before helping Rangers lift the League Cup for the first time in 12 years with victory over Aberdeen in December 2023.

Cantwell netted eight times in 2023-24 for Rangers and gained experience of playing in both the Champions League and Europa League during his time in Glasgow.

In the summer of 2025, Todd was appointed as our new club captain and scored in his first two games with the armband - against Birmingham City and at Hull City.
