Bio

The 28-year-old centre-back put pen-to-paper on a two-year contract at Ewood Park through to June 2027, with a 12-month option, and became Rovers’ fourth signing of the summer when he arrived in June 2025.

The left-footed Irishman started his career with hometown club Cork City, where he racked up over 50 appearances and earned international honours with the Republic of Ireland Under-21s.

His impressive performances at a young age saw him attract interest from a host of clubs, with Hull City winning the race for his signature in July 2019.

McLoughlin spent the first half of the 2019-20 season on loan at St Mirren, where he made 21 SPL appearances, before returning to the MKM Stadium and featuring seven times for Hull in the second half of the Championship campaign.

After helping Hull secure the League One title in 2020-21, McLoughlin has really established himself at the heart of the Tigers’ defence over the past four Championship seasons, taking his tally of appearances for the club to 146.

A calm, composed and dependable defender, McLoughlin adds professionalism, experience and leadership qualities to the Rovers dressing room
