Bio

The 23-year-old put pen to paper on a three-year contract at Ewood Park, with a 12-month option, after joining on a permanent deal from Belgian club KAA Gent for an undisclosed fee.

A talented young player with plenty of potential, Gudjohnsen will bring pace, physicality, intensity and goals to Rovers’ forward line, as well as an invaluable football education and the experience of playing at the highest level for both club and country.

The son of former Chelsea striker Eidur Gudjohnsen, Rovers’ ninth summer signing was born in London and had spells with both Barcelona and Real Madrid during his youth career.

He signed his first professional contract with Real Madrid and was named in their Champions League squad in 2021, before heading to Swedish side IFK Norrkoping a year later in search of first team football.

In August 2023, he joined Danish Superliga side Lyngby on a season-long loan, where he scored 15 goals in 33 appearances.

Lyngby made the move permanent, but Gent swooped for his services the same summer, with Gudjohnsen scoring five goals in 46 appearances last season for the Belgian Pro League club, who secured a top six finish.

On the international scene, the towering forward made his Iceland debut in September 2021 and has an impressive record of 10 goals in 36 caps for his country.
