Blackburn Rovers Community Trust recently hosted their Eid celebration, bringing together members of the community to celebrate the spirit of Eid ul-Fitr, which marked the end of Ramadan.

Held at the Community Wellbeing Hub in the Darwen End Stand, women from various backgrounds came together, showcasing their cultural pride and traditions. Reflecting the rich diversity of Blackburn with Darwen and provided a platform for unity, cultural exchange, and empowerment among women.

The event featured an array of activities, the highlight being traditional dance performances, along with attendees being served a delicious buffet that showcased various cuisines.

With more than 30 people in attendance, groups across Blackburn Rovers Community Trust were well represented with members of the Women’s Wellbeing Champions Group, Women’s Walking Football, staff and Trustees in attendance, along with the S.A.S Rights group.

Once again Blackburn Rovers Community Trust showcased its commitment to creating inclusive spaces where women can come together, share their experiences and learn from one another, enabling themselves to prioritise their physical, mental, and emotional wellness.

Throughout the event, participants had the opportunity to hear inspiring stories from fellow members, discussed their journeys with Blackburn Rovers Community Trust and the impact of community engagement on their lives.

The Eid celebration also served as an opportunity to educate attendees about the significance of Eid al-Fitr, and the importance of respecting different cultures and traditions.

Speakers shared insights on the values of kindness, generosity, and community service that are central to the celebration of Eid, as well as what the festival means to them. This emphasis on cultural education highlights Blackburn Rovers Community Trust’s commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion within the community.

Blackburn Rovers Community Trust’s Women’s Wellbeing Champions Group aims to be involved in many events that celebrate cultural diversity and empower women in the community going forward.

Blackburn Rovers Community Trust Trustee Mauren Bateson added, “It was a lovely, relaxed evening and I really enjoyed meeting so many women from different communities and see everyone come together to celebrate Eid. It was fantastic to taste the food, make new friendships, and take part in the dances in what was a very special evening”.
