As for Posh, managed by former West Ham United winger Matthew Etherington, they'll be without Joe Taylor, who has linked up with the Wales Under-21s squad. However, Benjamin Mensah, who impressed in the Under-21s' 3-0 win over Crewe Alexandra at the weekend, could be in line for another outing.

And Etherington believes tonight's game will be an interesting test for his young team.

"Rovers are an established category one academy, they've brought through a number of players over the last few seasons, so they are always well coached and have good individual players," he told the official Peterborough United website.

"It will be a good test for the players to see where they are currently at, thought they coped really well against Aston Villa and hopefully they will be able to do the same."

In this competition, Sheron’s side will face each team home and away, with the top two teams from each of the eight groups progressing through to the knockout phase.
