Date of birth
Peter Whittingham became Rovers' first signing of the summer when he joined from Cardiff City on a two-year deal.
Whittingham started his career with Aston Villa, winning the FA Youth Cup in 2002, before making his first team debut in the Premier League in a 1-1 draw away to Newcastle in April 2003.
The winger would go on to play 66 games for the Midlands club, scoring twice, before joining Cardiff in January 2007.
Over the past decade, Whittingham has made over 450 appearances for the Welsh club, scoring 98 goals.
A set-piece specialist, the versatile midfielder played a prominent role in Cardiff’s remarkable run to the FA Cup final in 2008 and League Cup final in 2012, and was one of the standout performers as the Bluebirds secured the Championship crown in 2013.
An England Under-21 international, Whittingham leaves the Welsh capital as one of the club’s all-time leading scorers and with a vast collection of individual accolades, notably being named in the Championship Team of the Year on three occasions and the Football League Team of the Decade in 2015.
