Rovers moved to bring former midfielder Liam Feeney back to Ewood Park in June 2016.

The 29-year-old, who had a loan spell with the club during the 2013-14 season, put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal.

Feeney started out in non-league football, first with Hayes and then at Salisbury City, before joining League Two Bournemouth in 2009.

The pacy playmaker tasted promotion in his first season with the south-coast club and would go on to make over 120 appearances for the Cherries during a two-and-a-half-year spell, scoring 14 goals.

In August 2011, he moved up to the Championship with Millwall, where he made 83 appearances, scoring three goals.

During the 2013-14 season, Feeney spent a short spell with Bolton Wanderers, before being recalled, and then ended the campaign on loan at Rovers, where he featured on six occasions.

That summer, Feeney made a permanent move to Bolton, where he would become one of their standout players, scoring eight times in 88 appearances.

He saw out the 2015-16 season on loan at promotion-chasing Ipswich Town and played a key role as the Tractor Boys secured a seventh-place finish in the Championship, scoring one goal in nine appearances.

He re-joined Rovers in June 2016 and went on to make 39 appearances last season, scoring one goal.
