August 2017 saw Middlesbrough's World Cup winning forward Harry Chapman join Rovers on a season-long loan.

The 19-year-old winger, who has won promotion from League One in each of the last two seasons, helped England's Under-20s lift the coveted trophy in South Korea this summer.

An unused substitute for the final against Venezuela, Chapman featured in the group game against Guinea and was an important member of Paul Simpson’s squad.

The World Cup win capped off a superb 2016-17 season for Chapman, who enjoyed a successful loan spell with Sheffield United, scoring four goals in 14 appearances, including a hat-trick in a 6-0 FA Cup victory over Leyton Orient, as the Blades lifted the League One title.

The previous season, the highly-rated teenager impressed on loan at Barnsley, netting once in 14 outings, as the Tykes won the Football League Trophy and also secured promotion to the Championship via the play-offs.

Having featured for Boro's first team throughout pre-season, Chapman now becomes Rovers' eighth summer signing and he will wear the number 8 shirt.

Rovers have also been given permission to play their new signing in this season's Carabao Cup, Checkatrade Trophy and FA Cup competitions.
