Sam Hart

Date of birth

Sam was Rovers' second deadline day signing in August 2017 when he joined from Liverpool for an undisclosed fee on a two-year deal.

Bolton-born, Hart came through Manchester United's Academy ranks before moving to Merseyside during the 2012-13 campaign at the age of 16.

He quickly progressed from Liverpool's Under-18s to become a regular for their development squad.

An athletic defender who loves to get forward, Hart featured for Jurgen Klopp's senior side in a pre-season friendly against Mainz in the summer of 2016, before gaining valuable first team experience on loan at Port Vale.

The full-back made 16 appearances for the Valiants during his six-month stay in League One last season, scoring one goal - against his hometown team - before returning to the Reds in January.

Hart's struggled for regular game time during his stay with Rovers, but has earned minutes elsewhere, featuring for Rochdale in the second half of 2017-18, before spending the first half of 2018-19 back at Spotland for a second loan stint.

A temporary switch to Southend United arrived for Sam, who enjoyed a half-season stay in Essex prior to returning to Rovers and featuring in pre-season in the summer of 2019.

Injury had since hindered Hart, who will be looking to get back to match fitness by playing regular football for Billy Barr's Development Squad.
