BRITISH FOOTBALL ACADEMY (BFA), SINGAPORE

British Football Academy, based in Singapore, became Blackburn Rovers’ first international partners in Asia in 2019.

As one of Singapore’s premier football Academies, BFA cater for boys and girls aged 2-18. Using ‘The Rovers Way’ philosophy, BFA have brought a taste of the UK Academy system to Singapore, providing their players with an in-depth football programme that mirrors the great work of the Rovers Academy.

They currently have over 250 children training each week, with 15 teams competing in leagues, cups and overseas tournaments, as well as being a football provider for one of the biggest international schools in Singapore.

The BFA and BRFC partnership aims to increase Rovers’ exposure in South East Asia, as well as providing BFA children with the best possible development programme.

In 2019, Rovers’ Head of Academy Stuart Jones and his staff flew to Singapore to launch the first Blackburn Rovers International Camp, which saw over 100 children work with Rovers Academy staff over four days.

During the course of the partnership, BFA children, parents and coaches have benefited from expert workshops such as coach education sessions with Head of Academy Coaching Tony Carss, a Q&A with Rover Ladies player Jade Richards, and sports nutrition, psychology and strength and conditioning Zoom sessions from Academy staff, all of which add value to the programme and provide BFA players with the best possible foundation to develop as players and people.

Plans are already in motion for the future when travel opens up again, with another International Camp scheduled for 2022, with plans in place for the Rovers staff to take the 1994-95 Premier League trophy with them!

BFA children will also have trips to the Brockhall training ground to train with Academy staff and play against local teams, as well as a BFA advanced programme that will provide the best players in Singapore with a possible pathway to the Rovers Academy.

Players and staff at BFA are looking forward to visiting everyone at Blackburn Rovers and Ewood Park soon.

Eastern FC 1.png

Eastern FC are a New York-based football club with over 250 players, including both boys and girls, and are an official partner of Blackburn Rovers Academy.

The partnership looks to develop Eastern FC players both on and off the pitch and help them learn how to play the 'Rovers Way'.

Eastern FC follow the same coaching programme and principles that are delivered to the Academy players at Brockhall each week.

When international travel allows, Academy coaches will travel over to New York to deliver Soccer Camps and education sessions, whilst teams from Eastern FC will make annual football tours to the UK, where they will eat, train and play games like Rovers’ full-time Academy players during their week-long stay, giving them a taste of what it is like to be a professional footballer.

Eastern FC also has a club charity – The Eastern Soccer Foundation – which raises funds to provide financial support to families, so that children can continue to play youth soccer and enjoy the beautiful game in the US.

The Foundation was created 18 years ago by the LaGreca family, whose children were players in the club, in order to help youth players be able to participate in the premier soccer experience regardless of financial limitations. To date, the Foundation has helped finance over 500 families and has helped supplement the cost of over $500,000 in the last 10 years.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foundation has continued to hold fundraising events and provided financial assistance to families, to ensure that their children could continue to play.
