Rovers completed the signing of Senegalese striker Makhtar Gueye from Belgian club RWD Molenbeek for an undisclosed fee in the summer of 2024.
The giant forward, 27, penned a three-year deal at Ewood Park through to June 2027, with a 12-month option.
Starting his football journey with Saint-Étienne, Gueye progressed through the French club’s youth ranks before making his first team debut in a 1-1 draw against Strasbourg in August 2018 – scoring an 88th-minute equaliser just four minutes after coming on from the bench.
Following a successful loan spell with Ligue 2 side Nancy, where he scored seven goals in 24 games and helped the club finish second in the table, Gueye joined KV Oostende in the summer of 2020.
He scored 25 goals in 71 games for the Belgian club, whilst also spending the 2022-23 season on loan at Spanish side Real Zaragoza.
Twelve months ago today, Gueye made a big-money move to newly-promoted Belgian top-flight side RWD Molenbeek, where he scored 11 goals in 32 league games last season.
