Bio
A vastly experienced defender, McFadzean joined Rovers on a free transfer from Coventry City in January 2024 on a deal until the end of the 2023-24 campaign.
McFadzean, who has over 600 senior appearances and four promotions to his name, started his career with his hometown team Sheffield United, making his debut in a League Cup tie away to Shrewsbury Town aged just 18.
Eager to play first-team football, he joined Alfreton Town, where he made over 100 appearances, before signing for Crawley Town, where he won back-to-back promotions, helping the Red Devils reach League One for the first time in the club’s history.
In 2014, McFadzean moved to MK Dons, where he enjoyed yet another promotion, this time to the Championship, before signing for Burton Albion in the summer of 2016.
After three years and over 100 appearances for the Brewers, the towering centre-back joined Coventry City, where he became a leader at the back alongside Dom Hyam.
The 37-year-old helped the Sky Blues secure the League One title in 2019-20 – and a fourth promotion in the process – before becoming a virtual ever-present in the Coventry backline over the past three seasons.
In 2022-23, he helped Mark Robins’ side reach the Championship play-off final at Wembley, playing the full 120 minutes in Coventry’s penalty shoot-out defeat to Luton Town.
After impressing during his six-month stay with Rovers, McFadzean was rewarded with a fresh one-year deal, which was signed in July 2024.
