Striking delight for Thompson

The young left back bagged his first ever goal for Northern Ireland's Under-21s

11 September 2019

Lewis Thompson scored his first goal for Northern Ireland's Under-21s side last night as the Green and White Army earned a draw in Finland.

Thompson bagged the equaliser in the 1-1 draw, smashing home from close range before the break.

The left back was upfield to fire in after Finland earned an early advantage thanks to Olli Valakari's fourth minute opener for the hosts.

Northern Ireland Under-21s now sit fourth in Group H, whilst Finland keep their place at the top of the table.

They remain unbeaten after two games, with two points on the board ahead of trips to Denmark and Romania next month.
