Lewis Holtby watches everything and everyone when it comes to scouring through social media channels.
The 29-year-old playmaker documented his journey from Germany to England via the Netherlands on his Instagram account just prior to putting pen-to-paper on a two-year deal with Rovers.
And the cheeky former Schalke and Tottenham Hotspur schemer says the plan was to just have some fun following reports of a potential switch to East Lancashire.
“I definitely noticed the fans getting in touch with me on social media," he admitted to iFollow Rovers.
"I like to add a bit of mystery and have a bit of fun on social media.
“There’s a lot of negativity surrounding social media, but sometimes it’s good to have a little riddle. There were talks going on in the media about me potentially signing here, but I didn’t want to mention it.
“It was just a journey and it kept people interested in where I was going and what I was up to. I’m pleased it’s all sorted and we can look forward to a bright future together.
“It’s always good to have a good reception and for people to be excited to have you at their football club."
He's already done his research on the club, the area and his new team-mates, and says he can't wait to get to know the staff and players better as the days and weeks go by.
“As soon as I know I’m joining a new team I always Google the team and get to know a bit more about the club and the people at the club on social media," he added with a grin.
“It seems like there’s a nice bunch of lads here and I’m sure we’ll get to know each other over the next few days.
“I love the English banter in the dressing room and I’m sure we’ll have plenty of that going on here.
“I’ve read up about Bradley Dack and he’s a cockney, he’s from London, and he’ll probably have a few good jokes on him!
“He’s a fine footballer as far as I can see and maybe we can link up well in midfield, which would be nice. We’ll have to wait and see.
"I’ll get to know them, they’ll get to know me, and hopefully we can have some fun and win games."
