There may be opportunities for a number of first team players this evening when Rovers Under-23s take to the field against Everton Under-23s at Goodison Park.

Dominic Samuel started the Lancashire Senior Cup clash against Accrington Stanley last week and he could once again be in the XI to take on the Toffees tonight.

Ryan Nyambe also played in that last outing and he could feature this evening to get some valuable game time under his belt, having been an unused substitute for the first team at the weekend.

Sam Hart is likely to continue in the team as he steps up his fitness after a hamstring injury, and there may also be a place for Jacob Davenport, who has returned to full fitness in the last week.

Harry Chapman, Joe Rankin-Costello and Joe Grayson are also expected to play, whilst Lewis Thompson is back available again for Bill Barr after returning from international duty with the Northern Ireland Under-21s side.

Everton won the title last season and are currently unbeaten in the league this term after four games played.

Frontman Anthony Gordon is leading the way at the top of the scoring charts in the division with four goals already this term, and he's been key to the fine start under David Unsworth.

Full of confidence, Everton recorded an impressive 8-2 victory over Southampton last time out at Haig Avenue, with the goals shared out between seven different scorers.
