Natasha Fenton believes there’s enough fight and determination in the current Rovers squad to start picking up points in the Championship.
It’s been a tough start to life in the second tier for the Blues following consecutive losses, and up next is a tricky test against joint league leaders Aston Villa.
But the Rovers players are all positive as they look towards Sunday’s lunchtime trip to Villa Park.
“The spirit is still really good,” Fenton commented.
“We push each other to be the best that we can be. Anything that we may lack technically on the day we always make up in hard work and that’s one thing that we can’t doubt.
“We might get on each other’s backs but that’s because we demand the best from each other and we really are genuinely gelled as one.”
Fenton admits it will take time to acclimatise to the new division, which pits Rovers against a higher quality of opposition.
Gemma Donnelly’s side came close to taking something out of the game against London Bees and held Lewes for the opening 45 minutes, before falling away in the second period.
“We’re still adapting to the intensity. That comes from training and we’re not quite there yet but we’re competing all over the pitch.
“Now it’s just making sure that we can stick out for the full 90.”
