“Getting the three points and a clean sheet means it’s a good weekend."

Darragh Lenihan is set to have a wonderful weekend and it's no surpise why after Rovers returned to winning ways against Millwall at Ewood Park.

Lenihan was superb in a new look back three that also starred goalscorer Derrick Williams and the returning Tosin Adarabioyo, with Elliott Bennett and Greg Cunningham in the wing back roles.

Whilst the Irishman's performance was impressive, his cross was perfect for Bradley Dack to make the game safe late on against The Lions.

“It was a tough game and we knew what to expect from Millwall, who have been in good form," the 25-year-old centre back told iFollow Rovers after the game.

“Getting the three points and a clean sheet means it’s a good weekend. We know you’ve always got to battle against Millwall, as it showed at their place last season when we won 2-0.

“We knew what to expect and I felt we dealt with them quite well.

“The first goal is huge. It gave us something to hold onto and if they got it then we’d have had to go chasing the game.

“Luckily we got the first goal and could have scored more than the two we did get with the chances we created towards the end of the game."

It was partner in crime Williams who gave Rovers the advantage in the first half against Neil Harris' side.

After Cunningham's pass, Williams lashed home from the edge of the box to emphatically hand the hosts the lead.

“Del’s been shooting every Friday with the lads and he tells us that he does have a shot in his locker," Lenihan added with a grin.

“The lads seem to doubt him, but it’s a brilliant strike. He’s been in top form this season and hopefully that continues.

“There’s 11 men on the pitch who defend as one, not just me and Derrick. I remember Benno putting in a great block during the game, Tosin’s come in and done really well."
