Rovers Under-18s suffered a defeat to Derby County Under-18s, but fought bravely despite playing the majority of the match with 10 men.

Sam Burns put the hosts in command at the Academy, but Jack Stretton forced an equaliser just six minutes later.

Just moments after The Rams' goal, Luke Brennan was shown a straight red card, before Derby added two further finishes through Eno Nto and Stretton again.

The result sees Rovers go into the international break in 10th place in the table, whilst Derby rise to seventh.

Things started well for Rovers, with Brennan slipping in Burns, who made no mistake by beating Harry Halwax and putting the hosts in front midway through the half.

But that lead didn't last long, with Derby leveling through Stretton. The frontman nipped in to intercept a backpass to Jordan Eastham and fire into the top left-hand corner.

Two minutes later and Rovers were a man light, with Brennan being handed an early bath by Kieran Johnson, the referee.

Mike Sheron's side managed to get to half time on level terms, but that didn't last long into the second half.

Nto was in the right place to pounce and turn home Archie Brown's low cross to give the advantage to the visitors just three minutes after the interval.

Rovers kept going and defended stoutly to stay in the game until the 80th minute, when Stretton killed off any hopes of a comeback.

The frontman was in the right place at the right time to finish well after Tyree Wilson's fine solo run and strike was beaten into his path by Eastham.
