Rovers Under-23s return to action today [Thursday] with a first Premier League Cup encounter of the campaign taking place in south London.
Billy Barr's charges take on Crystal Palace's Under-23s side at Dulwich Hamlet's Champion Hill ground aiming to get up and running in the four-team group.
Rovers and Palace are joined in Group G by Middlesbrough and Burnley, with the top two advancing to the knockout phase of the competition.
Last season, Rovers reached the quarter-finals before bowing out to eventual winners Everton at Goodison Park. They'll be hoping to go a few steps further this time around.
In terms of team news, Jacob Davenport is expected to be part of the travelling contingent down to London as he steps up his match fitness following an injury-hit pre-season.
But fellow first teamer Sam Hart isn't expected to be a member of the party. The left back is likely to be a part of the first team squad for this weekend's game against Huddersfield Town following an injury to Greg Cunningham.
Joe Hilton will keep his place and start in goal, whilst Harry Chapman, Stefan Mols and Tom White may also get minutes in Dulwich.
Palace come into the game in poor form, with just one win from their last five outings, which includes three defeats.
The Eagles currently sit in eighth place in the Professional Development League South table, with two victories from their opening eight league games.
Any supporters who wish to gain entrance to the game can do so free of charge.

Kick-off is at 1pm.
