Jordan: It’s a big occasion

“I think all the girls will be looking forward to it, especially as it’s back in the league”

Rovers captain Saffron Jordan says there is plenty of motivation within the group to make sure they put in a positive performance at Ewood Park on Sunday.

The Blues face Coventry United with both teams looking to move themselves away from the foot of the Championship table.

Gemma Donnelly’s side did grab their first league win of the season last time out, beating Durham 1-0 at New Ferens Park, but that was followed by defeat to the same opposition in the Continental Cup last weekend.

“The fact that it’s at Ewood is all we need to pick ourselves up,” the skipper said ahead of the encounter.

“It’ll be a big occasion and I think all the girls will be looking forward to it, especially as it’s back in the league now and we need the points.”

Rovers took a point from their trip to Coventry in the Continental Cup, but went away disappointed to surrender their lead and lose the penalty shootout for an extra Group Stage point.

“We want a bit of revenge on Coventry. We were upset with how we played at their ground in the Conti Cup a few weeks ago.

“We’ve got a lot to work on. We’re aware of our mistakes and sloppiness and the girls are willing to work on that.

“It’s going to be a well contested game but I think we’ll come out on top.”
