New Rovers keeper Lauren Perry was thrilled to join Rovers Ladies following her transfer from Linfield.
The 18 year-old shot stopper joins from the Northern Irish champions, having spent the whole of her career there prior to the move.
“Obviously it’s exciting times coming over from Northern Ireland,” Perry beamed in her interview since joining the club.
“Once Gemma got in contact with me, straight away it was a yes.
“The ambitions of the club and the success that they’ve had previously. Hopefully coming into the club I can join that success.
“I’m only 18 but I’ve played in the Champions League and I made my international debut at 16. I think doing that so young has helped me mature as a player so quickly.
“I’ve played with players like Sarah McFadden and those who have played in the Championship over here.
“I’ve been learning from them and hopefully I can pass that on to players here.”
The Northern Ireland international comes into a squad with Danielle Hill and Fran Stenson already established at the club.
And she sees it as a positive to have those players around her day in day out.
“Competition is good but we can learn off each other. Dan Hill is a really experienced player so hopefully I can learn from her and she can teach me a few things.”
Perry also spoke about how well she has settled in into the club and her aims for the season.
“It’s been going really well. The girls are really welcoming so that was a good thing coming over.
“Firstly I want to find my feet, see how it is and get my first 90 minutes under my belt. And then hopefully we can start to push on together.”
