29 October 2019

Rovers defensive pair Derrick Williams and Darragh Lenihan have both been named in the Republic of Ireland squad for a pair of upcoming games next month.

Mick McCarthy has released an extended 39-man provisional squad for the two games, with the friendly against New Zealand on Thursday 14th November coming four days before the Euro 2020 showdown with Denmark.

Lenihan, who is currently out of action with a hamstring injury, has two caps for his country, having featured against the USA in June 2018 and Northern Ireland in November 2018, whilst Williams has two caps to his name, having made his international debut against France in May 2018 prior to representing his country against Georgia in the last international break.

There is no place in the squad for Greg Cunningham, who remains sidelined with an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained at Queens Park Rangers.
