Rovers pair Darragh Lenihan and Greg Cunningham have both been called into the Republic of Ireland squad for two crunch Euro 2020 Qualifiers.
Mick McCarthy has included the pair in his squad for the Republic of Ireland’s Qualifiers against Georgia in Tbilisi on Saturday 12th October and Switzerland in Geneva on Tuesday 15th October.
Lenihan currently has two caps for his country, having featured against the USA in June 2018 and Northern Ireland in November 2018.
Cunningham, who is on a season-long loan from Cardiff City, has appeared for his country on four occasions, having made his debut against Algeria in 2010.
Ireland currently sit top of Group C, with 11 points from their opening five group games, two points ahead of second placed Denmark.
Speaking to FAI.ie, McCarthy believes that the duo's form is deserving of a call up.
“Terry Connor has been to watch Darragh and Greg play for Rovers and they have shown him they will be good additions for this squad,” he said.
“Greg is one of the most experienced left-backs available to us. He was with us in the summer and he knows what we want.
“We’ve watched Darragh a number of times and Terry and the other scouts like his footballing ability. He has been in and around the squad before so I look forward to working with him.”
