Super League side Liverpool showed their class in the Continental Cup, beating Rovers Ladies 6-0 on a freezing cold night at Bamber Bridge.
The visitors took an early lead when ex-Rover Rhiannon Roberts curled an effort into the far corner from a tight angle.
It was all Liverpool in the opening stages and they could have gone further in front had Ellie Stewart not made a goal-line clearance to prevent Rinsola Babjide scoring the second.
But Babajide wouldn’t be denied for long. She doubled the lead, curling her shot into the roof of the net.
Lauren Perry was then called into action to deny Ashley Hodson at point-blank range.
A third came on the half hour mark. Melissa Lawley nipped in and slotted the ball past Perry from close range.
Ashley Hodson made it four when she slid in at the back post to tap home.
Rovers made two changes at the break as they looked to put in a positive second-half but it was Liverpool who came out of the traps quickly as Babajide’s powerful strike was blocked by Stewart.
At the other end, Natasha Fenton’s free-kick almost fell in at the back post but it dropped narrowly wide, while Saffron Jordan forced Frances Kitching into a save.
Rovers then won possession back high up the pitch and almost punished Liverpool when Fenton shot over from the edge of the box.
Jordan tried her luck from distance soon after, but Kitching was equal to it.
Courtney Sweetman-Kirk tried to round Perry but the keeper did well to force her wide before Babajide’s turn and shot was blocked by Kelsie Burrows.
The fifth came when Sweetman-Kirk raced through on goal before slotting the ball into the bottom corner.
Kearns curled in a free-kick to round off the scoring with two minutes to play.
