Rovers Ladies have their sights set on a cup upset when they entertain Women’s Super League Liverpool to Bamber Bridge in the Continental League Cup.

Here’s our guide to the highly anticipated encounter…

It's a 7:45pm kick-off at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium, Bamber Bridge on Thursday 21 November.

Rovers are searching for their first win of the Group Stage and were beaten 4-1 by Sheffield United in their last game.

Gemma Donnelly’s side were up against it after Chelsey Jukes’ controversial early sending off for handball and United made their player advantage count, scoring four times to put the game beyond the Blues before Saffron Jordan scored a consolation penalty late on.

Three points would lift the Blues above Liverpool in the Group.

Liverpool were shocked by Championship side Aston Villa last time out, losing 2-0 to the Midlands side.

In the league, the 2013 and 2014 Champions sit bottom of the table and are yet to win this season.

Last weekend’s historic Merseyside derby drew a crowd of over 23,000 at Anfield, but it was Everton who went home with all three points, winning 1-0.

The two sides last met at Bamber Bridge in a pre-season friendly in August 2018.

Saffron Jordan scored twice for Rovers in a convincing 4-1 victory for the then National League side, with Lynda Shepherd also getting on the scoresheet.

With England U19 international Fran Stenson cup-tied, Lauren Perry is expected to keep her place in goal, while Alex Taylor is also unavailable.

Milly Robertson is a long-term absentee due to the injury which forced her off at Sheffield United and Chelsey Jukes serves a one-match suspension for the red card picked up in the same game.

But former Reds midfielder Lauren Thomas, who has been out injured since the first home game of the season, is ready for a return to action.

McDonalds's will be in the club house before the game, offering free face painting and fruit bags for the first time to create a fun, family experience for our young fans.

You can buy tickets on the gate at Bamber Bridge (cash only).

Adults are priced at £5, concessions at £3 and juniors at £2.

Ladies Season Tickets are valid for this fixture.
