Ben Gladwin is set to get a first run out in two years as Rovers Under-23s look to continue their fine start to Group G in the Premier League Cup against Burnley Under-23s.
Billy Barr confirmed after the recent Premier League International Cup clash against Benfica earlier in the week that Gladwin will get game time against The Clarets.
“Ben Gladwin is going to come back in for his first 45 minutes," he revealed.
"I think the lads deserve a chance to play on Ewood after that if I’m honest. The gaffer will has spoken to us and let us know. It’s a local derby on our home patch.
"We’ll get back to work, make sure the aches and pains from the last two games are eradicated and do some work for Burnley.”
Joining Gladwin in the side, it's likely that Harry Chapman and Dominic Samuel will be included for the encounter against a Burnley side who are unbeaten in their 17 games in all competitions this season.
Barr's side made the perfect start in the competition with victory at Crystal Palace last month, coming back from a goal down to defeat The Eagles 3-1 at Dulwich Hamlet.
The team backed that up with a victory at Leyland against Middlesbrough's Under-23s and sit top of the group with six points.
Last season, Rovers reached the quarter-finals before bowing out to eventual winners Everton at Goodison Park.
A win will put Rovers in an even more commanding position at the top of the table as Barr's side aim to continue their 100% start in the competition.
The Clarets have drawn their first two group matches, most recently a 2-2 draw with Palace at the beginning of the month, with goalkeeper Adam Legzdins the unlikely hero when he nodded home in the final minute.
Kick-off at Ewood Park is at 1pm.
