Rovers will join other EFL clubs across the country this weekend by showing our support and raising awareness of Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces campaign.
The campaign, which runs from Friday November 22nd to Sunday December 8th, aims to promote diversity and inclusivity in all areas of football, both on and off the pitch, and encourage communities to ‘Come Out Active’ by getting people to participate in something active in the name of LGBT equality in sport.
At Saturday’s home game, Rovers will highlight its continued support for LGBT fans, players and staff across the game by turning the corner flags, subs board, programme cover, social media logo and captain’s armband rainbow coloured, whilst rainbow laces will also be provided to the players.
Saturday’s activation reinforces Rovers' commitment to promoting inclusion and engaging with its diverse community under the #OneRovers banner.
Furthermore, Rovers have teamed up with ELHT&Me for the 2019-20 season, as one of the club’s four charity partners, along with The Queen’s Lancashire Regiment Veterans Charity, Fight Like a Kid and Blackburn Rovers Community Trust.
ELHT&Me is the official charity of East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, who provide high-quality care for the people of East Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen.
The Trust manages Blackburn Royal Hospital as well as four other hospitals in the region and community services across East Lancashire too.
Donations to ELHT&Me make a huge difference for patients and their loved ones by improving the hospital experience, funding research, buying state-of-the-art medical equipment and enabling the Trust to provide care beyond standard NHS funding.
There will be bucket collectors around Ewood Park on Saturday, so please give what you can to a terrific charity.
There will also be an awareness stall in the FanZone, the Rovers players warming-up in ELHT&Me t-shirts and posters displayed around the stadium.
The club will also be opening the top tier of the Blackburn End for staff and families from East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust
