Billy Barr is looking forward to a new experience as Rovers make their debut in the Premier League International Cup.
It will be the first time in the club's history that Rovers will be competing in the tournament, with Hertha Berlin visiting Ewood Park for tonight's showdown.
It's a step into the unknown somewhat for Barr and his side, but the Development Squad chief is looking forward to locking horns with the team from the German capital.
“It’s something that has been spoken about for a while now, playing against international teams," he revealed to iFollow Rovers ahead of the game. "Everyone’s really looking forward to it.
“I think the players will learn. We’ll train as we would for any other team and we have footage of their game against Benfica in the first game.
“We’re up against a different side and we’ll adapt to how they play and they’ll adapt how we play.
“In the junior age groups we do try to have trips abroad at least once a year and it’s something I think we should be doing more of at that level and at Under-23s level as well.
“It’s a first step for us and hopefully we can come out of the game with a positive result."
Rovers are joined in Group C by Newcastle United and Benfica, and is hoping for a bumper crowd to show their support for his youngsters in the opening encounter of the group stages.
“It’s at Ewood which, as we’ve seen previously in the FA Youth Cup, it does impact people," he added.
“We’ve had good and bad experiences of playing at Ewood Park, but every young player wants to play at the main stadium.
“Hopefully we can get lots of fans in to watch us and we can put on a performance, because it’s not often that we have international teams coming to us.
“We’re looking for a good, positive performance.”
