Rovers’ pre-season schedule is starting to take shape, with the first four friendlies confirmed.

Manager Tony Mowbray will take his team to Barrow, Rochdale, Bury and Blackpool, as the players prepare for the 2019-20 Championship campaign.

After flying out to Austria for a week-long training camp at the end of June, Rovers will return to Brockhall in early July, before playing their first pre-season fixture at Barrow’s Furness Building Society Stadium on Saturday July 6th, kick-off 3pm.

The Cumbrian side finished 11th in the National League North last season and have former Rovers youngster Lewis Hardcastle in their ranks.

The two teams met in a pre-season fixture at Holker Street in July 2017, with Rovers winning 2-1 thanks to Danny Graham’s goal with the last kick of the game.

Mowbray’s men will then face Rochdale at the Crown Oil Arena on Sunday July 14th, kick-off 3pm.

Brian Barry-Murphy’s side finished 16th in League One last season and took Rovers defender Sam Hart on loan for the first half of the campaign.

The short trip to Bury’s Energy Check Stadium will take place on Wednesday July 24th, kick-off 7.45pm.

The Shakers secured automatic promotion back to the third tier last season, finishing second behind Lincoln in League Two, with Rovers defender Scott Wharton starting 15 league games on loan at Gigg Lane during the second half of the season.

Rovers recorded identical results against Rochdale and Bury during the League One promotion campaign, winning 3-0 away and 2-0 at home against both clubs.

The final fixture of pre-season sees Rovers visit Blackpool’s Bloomfield Road on Saturday July 27th, kick-off 3pm.

Rovers also did the double over the Seasiders during the 2017-18 promotion-winning season, triumphing 4-2 away and 3-0 at Ewood Park.

Terry McPhillips' side, who have former Rovers Chris Taylor, Liam Feeney, Nathan Delfouneso and Jay Spearing on their books, finished 10th in League One last season.

Rovers will announce ticket information and further friendly fixtures in due course.
