Blackburn Rovers are delighted to have supported the Ladies’ successful application for promotion to the FA Women’s Championship.
Rovers Chief Executive Steve Waggott said: “We are all delighted at the club that Gemma and the Ladies team have eventually been given the stamp of approval to play Championship football next season.
“We were all bitterly disappointed last year that our application was unsuccessful. Having won the league and cup ‘treble’ for the second season in succession, the players can’t do any more at this level.
“All players and teams want to test themselves at the highest level possible, so this is very positive news.
“We can now start to put some building blocks in place in order to give the players the best possible chance to be competitive and hopefully achieving success in The FA Women’s Championship next season.
“It is thoroughly deserved after all the hard work, time and effort put in by Gemma, her staff and her players. It is also a boost for all the players in our successful Regional Talent Centre, as it provides a pathway for them to play at a higher level.
“Overall, it is great news for the club.”
There is still one game left for the Ladies this season, the Championship play off against Coventry United at Valley Parade on Saturday 18th May. You can get your match tickets (£5) and coach travel (£10) online now!
