Rovers are pleased to announce that defender Matty Platt has signed a new one-year contract with the club.
The 21-year-old, who has been with the club since the age of nine, will remain at Ewood Park until the summer of 2020.
Having progressed through Rovers' youth ranks, Platt played a key role in the Under-23s' Premier League 2 Division 2 title success in 2017-18.
He then spent the first half of last season on loan at League One side Accrington Stanley, before enjoying a short spell with National League North side Southport.
A strong and commanding central defender, Platt featured in all three group games for Rovers in the 2017-18 Checkatrade Trophy campaign and is now targeting a more regular role in the first team.
“I’m delighted to sign the new contract here at Rovers," said Platt.
“This club has been a big part of my life, growing up here from a young lad. It’s shaped me in many ways and it’s made me a better person.
“To come all the way through, the next step for me is to try and get into the first team squad on a regular basis."
Platt, who is hoping to follow in the footsteps of some of his Rovers Under-23s team-mates, added: "It’s great to see so many young players get their opportunity.
"My mate Trav (Lewis Travis) has been flying in the first team and it shows that he took his chance. That’s what you have to do.
“I look at the likes of Trav, Tyler (Magloire) and Bucko (John Buckley), they’ve all had a chance and had a taste of the first team and I want to follow suit."
