Blackburn Rovers are pleased to welcome the latest intake of first year scholars at the Academy.
Aidan Dowling, Alexander Baker, Ben Pleavin, Brandon Lonsdale, George Wyatt, Jake Garrett, Jared Harlock, Joseph Ferguson, Lenni Rae Cirino and Zak Gilsenan will all join the club on a full-time basis when the players return to Brockhall for pre-season training this summer.
The 10 talented teenagers put pen-to-paper on their two-year scholarship contracts at the annual end-of-season Induction Evening, which was held in the Red Rose Suite at Ewood Park.
The new recruits listened to presentations about what will be expected of them both on and off the pitch – including some first hand advice from rising star John Buckley – before signing their deals and posing for photos with Head of Academy Stuart Jones.
Over the next two years, the players will hope to cement their place in Billy Barr’s youth team, before making the successful step up to Damien Johnson’s Under-23s.
Ultimately, they will hope to follow in the footsteps of recent Academy graduates Buckley, Tyler Magloire, Dan Butterworth and Joe Grayson, who were all handed their Rovers debuts by manager Tony Mowbray this season.
