Development Squad chief Damien Johnson says his side are looking forward to locking horns with local rivals Burnley in the Lancashire Senior Cup this evening.

The clash at Leyland will be Rovers' final encounter of the campaign, with Johnson aiming to end an excellent term on a high and take home some silverware.

In fine form, his side chalked up a 13th win from their last 18 games in the final Premier League 2 match of the season at Anfield against Liverpool last weekend.

One more victory will take the trophy tonight, and Johnson is eager for his side to reap the reward for a fine season.

“It’s a game we’re looking forward to," he said ahead of the game, which kicks off at the Lancashire FA HQ at 7pm this evening.

“Our full attention has been turned to this game since the win over Liverpool last weekend.
“Hopefully we can match a good performance with a good result.
“It’s a cup final and the lads have worked so hard to reach this stage of the competition.
“The important thing is now to go on and win it. It doesn’t matter who we play, whether it’s Burnley or not, we want to win the competition.
“It’ll generate a lot of interest, but we’ve prepared as normal and are ready for what will be a tough game. Hopefully we can give a good account of ourselves."
