Rovers Ladies manager Gemma Donnelly couldn’t hide her delight at the club’s promotion to the FA Women’s Championship.
The team won the National League Northern Premier Division for the third successive season in March and now the club’s bid to be promoted has been successful.
It follows on from two seasons of disappointment, having won the league but not been granted a licence to play in a higher division.
“It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions over the last three years, Donnelly said.
“Huge credit has to go to the players for their continued success. They have been a committed team and never lost focus despite the setbacks.
“And with this in mind, to have been given the opportunity to play in a higher level I think is testament to the ability of the group of individuals.
“For me it’s been both an amazing and frustrating 12 months and I’m just finally thankful that all the hard work both on the pitch and behind the scenes has been recognised.
“We can finally say that we’ve earned promotion in the best way possible. Which is for recognition of our continued development at this club.
“I would like to thank Blackburn Rovers for their continued and very generous support. And to all our partners and sponsors for their very important contribution. And to our loyal fans who have supported us throughout our journey, this is for you.”
