Scoring his first goal and then picking up the club’s Young Player of the Year award, it’s not been a bad week in the life of Lewis Travis.
On his 30th outing of the season in all competitions for the first team, Travis registered his first goal, with a strike from the edge of the box against promotion-winning Norwich City at Carrow Road.
And on picking up his prize from Chris Knight and Chris Ridehalgh from Organic Insurance, the 21-year-old has been thrilled with how his breakthrough campaign has gone.
“I’m made up. It’s been an amazing season for me and as a club I think it’s been a very good campaign for everyone involved.
“Getting my chance away at Sheffield United was the turning point for me. It was the time I got my opportunity.
“I’ve been working since I was a boy to be a first team player, and that’s certainly been the case since I joined the Rovers Academy.
“It’s been a good week for me, picking up this award after getting my first professional goal at Norwich City on Saturday, it’s just a shame we didn’t get the result we wanted.
“I’m looking forward to next season and I’m excited for it. I see no reason why we can’t achieve great things next term.”
