Rovers Ladies are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Sophie Charlton from league rivals Fylde Ladies.
The 18-year-old becomes Gemma Donnelly's latest signing as the Blues close in on a third straight league title.
Charlton came through Manchester United Centre of Excellence after signing for the Red Devils in 2015, before moving to Everton’s Development team. She also had a spell with Rovers’ Regional Talent Centre.
She then signed for the Coasters in the summer of 2017 and enjoyed a goal-ridden one and a half season spell at the club.
The attacking midfielder scored an impressive 11 goals in 20 games for Fylde this season and picked up two Player of the Match awards.
That followed on from netting 16 times in 29 games for the Northern Premier Division club last term.
The striker has already faced Rovers three times this season, but will now wear the blue and white halves for the remainder of the season.
And manager Donnelly is delighted to have secured the services of a attack-minded player following the recent departures of Bethany Donoghue and Eve Kennerley.
“We know quite a lot about Sophie given she’s been at Rovers as a youngster," Donnelly commented.
"She’s an attacking midfielder with an eye for goal and is hungry for success.
“Her youth will make her a hungry and ambitious signing for us.”
Charlton goes straight into Ellie Cash’s Development squad to face Sheffield United on Sunday.
