Preview: Stoke City U23s v Rovers U23s

A look ahead to tonight's Premier League Cup clash against the Potters

15 March 2019

Damien Johnson's Development Squad are back in action tonight when his Under-23s side take on Stoke City at Clayton Wood training ground.

The hosts have reached the knockout stage of the competition for the first time after finishing top of their group ahead of Sunderland, Peterborough United and Charlton Athletic.

Rovers sealed progress following a victory in the final group game at Doncaster Rovers, finishing second in the group behind table-topping Everton.

First team pair Harry Chapman and Jacob Davenport are both expected to start against the Potters, as the duo step up their returns to full fitness.

The youngsters are yet to feature for Tony Mowbray's first team this term, and will hope to both gain the full 90 minutes under their belts to be options in the first team picture before the end of the campaign.

Two who are unlikely to be a part of the squad are Ben Brereton and Joe Nuttall. The strikers are expected to be a part of the first team squad against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, and won't travel to Stoke.

A reminder that tonight's game will be played at the Stoke City training ground, kick-off 6.30pm.
