Whilst a number of his Development Squad team-mates are north-west natives, it's fair to say that Stefan Mols has racked up the miles to get to our little part of East Lancashire.

The 20-year-old was born in Andalusia in southern Spain, and it was a chance visit to England that saw him get his foot on the ladder as a footballer.

And we've left it to Mols to look back on his first venture at Rovers back in the early 2000s.

“It’s a funny story really as I used to live in Spain," Mols explained to iFollow Rovers.

"I came over to visit my family in England and my grandad said that one of his friends had a Sunday league team and was short of players.

“I went along to play and did alright. The Blackburn scout was there and when I was aged six or seven I’d go along to the Academy to train whenever I was over visiting family.

"Eventually, I moved to Blackburn full time and that was that.

“I’m thankful for that as football is all I’ve ever wanted to do. The Academy is my second home now, I live nearby, but I’ve always seen this as the place I wanted to train and play.
