Rovers are delighted to announce that young midfielder Stefan Mols has signed a new two-year deal to remain at the club.

The Academy product, who joined the club aged nine, will now remain at Ewood Park until the summer of 2021 after putting pen-to-paper on his new contract.

A player with fine technical ability, he first made the step up to the play his part for the Under-23s squad towards the end of the 2016-17 season.

Having signed his first professional contract in the summer of 2017, Mols began the 2017-18 season well before a broken leg set him back.

However, after being out of action for five months, the 20-year-old returned to action to play a part in the Development Squad's Premier League 2 Division 2 triumph.

A regular in Damien Johnson's squads this term, Mols admits that he's already eyeing a place in the first team, following on from league outings for Tyler Magloire and John Buckley, who both made their bows in the Championship earlier this month.

“It means a lot to me as I’ve been here since I was nine and have progressed through the age groups," the Spanish-born playmaker told iFollow Rovers.
"I’ve been aiming to get this contract and I’m thrilled to get it all sorted.
“I’ve loved every minute of being here and never wanted to go anywhere else. I’ve always wanted to get into the first team, that’s been my dream since I joined as a child.
“The goal is to be in the first team and I see no reason why I can’t make that step up, as a few of the other lads have done.
“Seeing the lads get the call makes you even more determined to be the next one in the first team."
The news follows hot on the heels of fellow starlets Lewis Thompson and Dan Butterworth both signing fresh terms in recent weeks.

Congratulations, Stef!
