Del receives Ireland call

The defender could gain further caps for his country in the first two Euro 2020 Qualifiers this month

7 March 2019

Rovers defender Derrick Williams has earned a call up to the provisional Republic of Ireland squad for two upcoming games.

Williams, who has appeared 19 times in all competitions for Rovers this term, will hope to make the final cut as Mick McCarthy's side look to get off to the perfect start in the Euro 2020 Qualifiers.

The Republic will take on Gibraltar away from home on Saturday 23rd March, before returning home to tackle Georgia in Dublin on Tuesday 26th March 2019.

Williams has appeared once for his country, making his debut against France back in May 2018, and will be hoping to add to his tally in the upcoming double-header.

The final squad will be confirmed on Sunday 17th March.

Fellow Rovers man Darragh Lenihan misses out on the squad due to injury.
