An opportunity to blood more youngsters, admits Sheron

“We’ll certainly look to drip feed one or two in, and hopefully they’ll reap the rewards for that experience next season"

Mike Sheron says this weekend could be the perfect opportunity to give more youngsters minutes when Stoke City Under-18s take on Rovers Under-18s at the Academy.

Rovers battled back from two goals down in midweek to earn a point on the road at Middlesbrough, drawing 2-2 on Teesside.

And with Stoke set to visit Brockhall Village this weekend, Sheron admits that he may add a few more youngsters to the team against the Potters.

“Stoke are doing okay this season and the experience that these young lads will get will be vital," Sheron told the official website.

“Some have had to play out of position and learn new roles, but the basics have to be right wherever you play.

“Last season we blooded too many, which wasn’t ideal, but they needed that experience and it will do them the world of good.

“We’ll certainly look to drip feed one or two in, and hopefully they’ll reap the rewards for that experience next season."

Kick-off against Stoke on Saturday is 11am at the Rovers Academy.
