Rovers have been handed a home draw against Oldham Athletic in the first round of the Carabao Cup.
The clash against the League Two side will take place at Ewood Park the week commencing Monday 12th August.
Rovers last faced the Latics during the 2017-18 promotion campaign, with second-half strikes from Charlie Mulgrew and Adam Armstrong securing a 2-2 draw on home soil, following a 1-0 defeat at Boundary Park earlier in the season.
The only previous meeting between the two teams in the League Cup came back in 2001, when goals from Matt Jansen and Darren Dunning secured a 2-0 win for Rovers at Ewood Park, en route to lifting the trophy with victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the final in Cardiff.
Last season saw Rovers reach round three of the competition, as we hurdled the challenges of League Two sides Carlisle United and Lincoln City, before bowing out late on at Premier League side AFC Bournemouth.
