Ryan Nyambe has today been included in Namibia’s 23-man squad for the upcoming African Cup of Nations finals in Egypt.
The Rovers right-back had been part of a 28-man squad, which joined up in the United Arab Emirates for a training camp at the end of May.
On Sunday, the 21-year-old made his international debut, helping Namibia earn a 1-0 victory over Ghana in a behind-closed-doors friendly in Dubai.
Namibia are in Group D at the tournament, where they will face Morocco on June 23rd, South Africa on June 28th and Ivory Coast on July 1st.
Explaining his squad selection, Brave Warriors coach Ricardo Mannetti said: “We feel this team has the right energy, they are right for the tactics and will represent Namibia to the best of their abilities. These are the right players with the right work ethic and harmony.
“Those are the pillars of our decision. Also the inclusion of Ryan Nyambe at the back, his versatility is key for the changes at the back.”
