Rovers boss Tony Mowbray is looking forward to the fixtures coming out for the 2019-20 season, which he says is ‘just around the corner’.
After Premier League fixtures were released earlier today, it’s now just a week until EFL clubs find out who they will be facing throughout the upcoming campaign.
After some high-profile European and international finals in recent weeks, Mowbray is excited for the nation to be gripped by the domestic game once again.
“I’ve been in football a long, long time – since I left school at 16,” said the manager.
“It’s exciting when the fixtures comes out. The 20th June is etched there. You’re looking forward to them already.
“Football is the major sport in our country, it’s a very emotive sport and it’s been an amazing summer, what with the Champions League and Europa League finals, with four English teams.
“It doesn’t seem to stop. England have been playing over in Portugal and you think about those Liverpool and Tottenham players and their season hasn’t stopped.
“We love football, the country loves football, the emotion of football is there for everybody. It drives the economy as well I think, so we shouldn’t be wanting to be without it for too long and it’s not – it’s just around the corner.”
