Young Rovers defender Louie Annesley earned his sixth cap for Gibraltar in Friday's Euro 2020 qualifier against Georgia.

However, it would prove to be a disappointing night in Tbilisi, as Georgia ran out comfortable 3-0 winners.

Annesley, who joined Rovers from Lincoln Red Imps in January, started the game in a midfield holding role.

Georgia opened the scoring on the half-hour mark when Valerian Gvilia poked the ball past Kyle Goldwin from the edge of the area.

The hosts doubled their lead just before the hour mark when Giorgi Papunashvili hammered home and Vato Arveladze completed the scoring from the spot with 14 minutes remaining.

Annesley, a central defender by trade, played 86 minutes before being replaced by Erin Barnett.

Gibraltar, whose only previous outing in Group D ended in a 1-0 defeat at home to Ireland in March, will hope to pick up their first points in the reverse fixture in Dublin on Monday night.
