Tony Mowbray says a number of his senior players will head north of the border with the squad when Rovers take on Rangers on Sunday.
Experienced trio Corry Evans, Elliott Bennett and Danny Graham all missed out on the pre-season victory at Mansfield Town in midweek.
Sam Gallagher and Ryan Nyambe got minutes under their belts in a behind closed doors game against Macclesfield Town at the Rovers Academy earlier in the day, with Mowbray confirming that the pair will be part of the party heading across the border.
“The three missing players had little knocks and niggles," Mowbray explained when asked about the omission of Evans, Bennett and Graham at Field Mill.
"Corry has had an injection and there was just no point risking them and bringing them to Mansfield.
“They’ll all be fit and available for the game at Ibrox, but we left them at home rather than opting to bring them two-and-a-half hours down the road to sit on the bench and not play.
“On Saturday we’ll only have two weeks to go until the season starts and we'll be taking things up a notch.
“Both Sam [Gallagher] and Ryan [Nyambe] will come with the squad to Scotland. We need to bring our group together at this point."
A number of young starlets have earned game time so far this pre-season, with the likes of Andy Fisher, Joe Rankin-Costello, Tyler Magloire and Joe Grayson all featuring.
And Mowbray added that there have been enquiries to take some of the youngsters away from Ewood Park.
“Already the phone has been ringing about taking some of our young players on loan," he admitted.
"We have a games programme to fulfil and need players for those games, but when the time’s right some of those players will go out on loan to develop and play some minutes.
“The squad will drop from 32 or 33 to the mid-20s. After the weekend we’ll be focussing on a side that’ll be ready to play against Charlton at home."
