Rovers are pleased to announce the signing of young midfielder Tom White.

The 22-year-old joins from National League side Gateshead on a two-year deal.

White started his career in the same boys club as Adam Armstrong, before completing his scholarship with Carlisle United.

He then joined Gateshead at the age of 18, before gaining first team experience on loan at the likes of Spennymoor, West Aukland, Ashington and Scarborough, where he won promotion to the Evo-Stik Premier in 2018.

A combative and ball-playing midfielder, White made over 40 appearances for Gateshead last season and gained international honours with England C - earning caps against Wales and Estonia.

White is initially expected to join up with Rovers Under-23s, before pushing for a place in manager Tony Mowbray's senior squad.
