Tony Mowbray says the hunt will continue as he aims to boost his squad further before the close of the transfer window at the beginning of next month.

The latest addition of Christian Walton follows on from the arrivals of Stewart Downing, Bradley Johnson and Sam Gallagher, who all stepped through the Ewood Park doors earlier in the summer.

The spine of the team appears to have improved, but Mowbray says he will always have his eye on the ball regarding transfers and admits deals can come out of the blue at times.

“We’re always looking at additions," Mowbray told iFollow Rovers.

"The balance of the group is key when you have young players brought into a club like last summer with Jacob Davenport and Joe Rothwell who both need to develop.

“We have lots of young talent at the club. We’ll look to have an impact on the first team by only signing the right player for us.

“Clubs realise they aren’t getting the deals they want for their players the later the window gets to the deadline and that means some surprising names may well drop on your desk or be at the end of your phone.

“If someone comes along, at the right price, who we believe can help the team then we’ll definitely look at the option," he added.

“If the right young ones come along, who are not quite ready, but we can see the talent, then we may well be interested in them as well."
